Unseen by the untrained eye
"My grandson has special needs unseen by the untrained eye. Several
of his teachers and daycare providers mislabeled him as a behavioral disorder,
others accused me of spoiling him, very few recognized him for who he
is...a child with Sensory Integration Dysfunction and a very unique way
of learning, communicating and interacting with others. He had the most
difficult time with school last year...he was bullied, he achieved very
little academic gains, his school anxiety was soaring...I knew I had to
do something drastic...so, I went on a quest to find the best professional
advocate I could find and I did it!!!
Wendy spent time with me preparing us for our IEP meeting, she took time
to review all my grandson's records, she even conferenced with his Neuropsychologist.
By the time IEP day came we were ready. The team had intentions on leaving
my grandson in the same program again for this Fall...I was prepared to
pull him out and send him to a special school. But, by the end of the
meeting Wendy's knowledge and conviction had the team convinced to place
my grandson in a newly developing program within the district, designed
just for children just like him.
My grandson started the new program last week and so far...he's finally
coming home with smiles instead of tears...we couldn't have done it without
Wendy!"

Traversing the labyrinth
"Before hiring Wendy, we had a frustrating and difficult time trying
to navigate the educational system for our child who has several disorders
affecting learning. Wendy's professionalism and experience command great
respect from the educational community. We appreciate the resources she
has provided, the labyrinth she has helped us traverse, and all that she
has done for our child."

Flourishing
"Since meeting Wendy in April of 2003, she has been very supportive
in an extremely difficult situation with our son (age 12 at that time).
Wendy correctly suggested that he fit the autism spectrum; resulting in
his current residential placement where he is finally succeeding and flourishing."

Taking the lead
"Hiring Wendy as an educational consultant for our thirteen year
old son was the best decision we've ever made. She has been a godsend
to our troubled 13 year old son and our whole family. Wendy is incredibly
intelligent and extremely knowledgeable in the educational field. She
recognized our son's unique issues and his special talents. By taking
the lead in dealing with our local school system, she facilitated his
current placement in a school uniquely able to support his needs. Her
warm and engaging demeanor helped in placing our son in an environment
that we know is right for him. Thanks to Wendy, we have hope."

Going to bat
Dear Wendy,
Thank you for your genuine interest in our son, Michael. He is an amazing,
bright person and you recognized that immediately, in spite of his ADHD.
Your attention to Michael's needs first as well as our needs was very
reassuring. We appreciated that you worked closely with our family psychologist
and Michael's therapist. Your expertise in education coupled with your
caring, nurturing manner was very comforting. We were in a precarious
position with the school district. You stated Michael's needs clearly
making it possible for his academic needs to be met. Thank you for going
to bat for our son and insuring that the school recognized his needs and
put a proper academic program in place for him.
Best regards,
