February 9, 2004

1:00-2:15 PM http://www.iagcgifted.org
Students who are twice exceptional are some the most underserved students in gifted and talented programs. This population of studetns faces the stigma of a learning, physical or emotional disability first, often leading to decreased access to appropriate curriculum and services. The session will help participants learn how to "look again and dig deeper" to assist some of our most vulnerable students. A brief overview of the characteristics and needs associated with several disabilities will be provided. Social, behavior, academic, and sensory strategies that contribute to school success and capitalize on the strengths of students who are twice exceptional will be explored.
