There is a growing concensus that young children with disabilities are best served in the same community settings as their typically developing peers, when necessary supports are provided to ensure that their individual needs are met. Participants will be presented with information and materials that will increase their understanding of: (1)various developmental disabilities and how each disability may impact a child's learning, social and behavioral profile; (2) various behavioral techniques that can be utilized in a proactive fashion; (3) the value of flexible grouping as a means of meeting the needs of a range of learners in a classroom, and (4) when, where and how to utilize the services of an instructional aide to help support children with special needs.
