Students who are twice exceptional are some of the most underserved students in gifted and talented programs. This population of students faces the stigma of a learning, physical or emotional disability first, often leading to decreased access to appropriate curriculum and services. The session will help participants learn how to "look again and dig a little deeper" to assist some of our most vulnerable students. A brief overview of the characteristics and needs associated with several disabilities will be provided. Social, behavior, academic and sensory strategies that contribute to school success and capitalize on the strengths of students who are twice exceptional will be explored.
